Police Shooting in Bouton

HTS Channel 4: St Lucia News, "Marie St. Luce says she reported her mentally ill son to Soufriere police Wednesday, but that son was not home when officers arrived. She says, to her dismay, she saw officers entering the home of another son – forty-four-year old Timothy St. Luce. The mother of nine says she tried to tell officers that they had the wrong son but they ordered her off the property. She says soon afterwards she heard a gunshot and rushed to the house, but was threatened by officers. She says by the time she saw her son, he was dead, with a wound to his abdomen."

Police response to shooting

The Police do not know how many officers were on the scene in Soufriere. They also do not know where the victim was shot and where he died. Acting Commissioner - Vernon Francois – says that information will be released after what he expects will be a two week investigation. The Police are clear on these facts – the victim may have been mentally challenged and he was shot by Police who behaved in a manner they deemed appropriate. They also say the victim’s mother led them to the home of the now deceased man.
