TheChronicleHerald.ca: "Nova Scotia Power’s parent company is on the move again in the sunny Caribbean.

Emera Inc. of Halifax announced Monday it will buy a 38 per cent stake in Light and Power Holdings Inc. for US$85 million.

Light and Power Holdings is the parent company of Barbados Light and Power Co.

The investment is Emera’s third in the Caribbean.

'This acquisition is an exciting next step in our Caribbean growth strategy as we begin to build scale in the region,' said Chris Huskilon, Emera’s CEO.

Barbados Light and Power Co. is the only utility on the island of Barbados and serves 120,000 customers. It has three power plants generating 239 megawatts of electricity, Emera said in a news release."
