Kaieteur News: "A Guyanese Lieutenant has been placed on US $ 50,000 bail after he was charged with sodomy and child molestation charges in the US.
Lieutenant Martin Douglas from the Guyana Defence Force was pursuing a military course in Missouri, USA.
The army in a press statement yesterday afternoon said that the Lieutenant was arraigned on Thursday last before a judge on alleged sodomy and child molestation charges.
He has been placed on US $50,000 bail and is being held at the St Louis County Jail.
The army has said that they have dispatched staffers from its Embassy in Washington DC, to visit Douglas and assess his case with providing legal assistance.
The Lieutenant’s next court appearance is scheduled for September 11."
