The Trinidad Guardian: "Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says Divali 2010 should hold special significance for all citizens as this country escaped the passage of Hurricane Tomas over the weekend. Persad-Bissessar made the comment on Saturday night as she addressed constituents who packed her Siparia office for her 13th annual Divali celebrations. The Prime Minister, accompanied by most of her cabinet ministers and specially-invited guests, said: “We have been very blessed, as we all know, Hurricane (Tomas) just bypassed us and we have to give praise and thanks to God. While she gave thanks for this country, however, Persad-Bissessar conveyed best wishes to other islands that were not so fortunate, including St Vincent and the Grenadines.
