Take in ‘Dudus’ .....Police tell lawyers to turn over Tivoli strongman

JamaicaObserver.com: "THE police yesterday appealed to the lawyers retained by Tivoli Gardens strongman Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke to take him to the nearest police station in order for the extradition warrant against him to be executed.
The Government, after several months of inaction, on Tuesday finally signed the order for extradition proceedings against Coke — wanted in the US to answer drug- and guntrafficking charges — to begin.
Government Senator Tom Tavares-Finson, who had been representing Coke since the US issued the extradition request last August, Tuesday withdrew from the legal team and attorney Don Foote was retained as the lead attorney"

LOOKING on from outside, the barricades and sand bags mounted at the entrances to Tivoli Gardens give the impression of a community at war.However, a walk through the West Kingston power base of Christopher 'Dudus' Coke and the ruling Jamaica Labour Party yesterday offered a different picture.

Reaction....US Issues Travel Alert for Jamaica





THE United States has reacted to the ongoing standoff between security forces and residents in West Kingston by issuing a travel alert for its citizens in Jamaica, particularly in Kingston.
The alert issued today by the US State Department referenced unconfirmed reports of criminal gangs "amassing in the Kingston area".
"If the situation ignites, there is a possibility of severe disruptions of movement within Kingston, including blocking of access roads to the Norman Manley International Airport. The possibility exists that unrest could spread beyond the general Kingston area. The US Embassy Kingston is taking extra security precautions," said the alert.
