Trinidad and Tobago's Newsday "Political analyst Dr Bishnu Ragoonath yesterday said he was surprised by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s announcement that Local Government elections would be held on July 26 and indicated that he did not think the PNM was ready for the polls.
“It was very surprising to me,” he said in an interview. “I thought she would have given the Government time to settle down to deal with critical things before calling the election. I guess she just wanted to beat the iron while it was hot.”"
