Trinidad and Tobago's Newsday "HOUSING and the Environment Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal has instructed the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to put an immediate freeze on distribution of government houses as he said initial investigations into the operations of the corporation had uncovered illegal activities and poor workmanship on some houses.
Moonilal, the Oropouche East Member of Parliament, yesterday told Newsday that his preliminary investigation into the operations of the corporation revealed that an official had sought to allocate over 900 housing units immediately before the May 24 General Election, during the tenure of the then PNM government.
