St Kitts rejects bribe claim

BBCCaribbean.com "A St Kitts and Nevis government minister, caught up in a sting operation by a British newspaper, has said that he is a victim of a smear campaign.

Undercover reporters for the the Sunday Times newspaper said fisheries officials from six African, Caribbean and Pacific nations had told them Japan provided aid for fisheries and cash for delegates in return for their support at the International Whaling Commission (IWC).

The countries included Grenada and St Kitts and Nevis, whose foreign and marine resources minister Timothy Harris was mentioned in the paper's report.
