Seetahal: Penal killing justifiable

Trinidad and Tobago's Newsday "SENIOR COUNSEL and former Independent senator Dana Seetahal says last week’s killing in Penal of a thief was justifiable in the circumstances. She said yesterday that it is not in the public interest to charge anyone and that the court of public opinion, in which crime is rampant in the country, looms large.

“There is no basis for a DPP (Director of Public Prosecutions) to charge the villager in question because the public interest does not demand such,” Seetahal told Newsday in an interview outside the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
