Jamaica Gleaner News - Trinidad's booming economy faces rising inflation - Friday August 4, 2006: "Trinidad and Tobago's fast growing economy is facing a serious inflation threat brought on mainly by soaring food prices, according to the Central Bank.
Last month the International Monetary Fund (IMF) warned that the energy-driven economy, projected to exceed 12 per cent growth at the end of this year, is operating near capacity.'Inflation has accelerated, real estate prices are rising, capacity constraints have become evident in some sectors, and the labour market has tightened, ' the IMF said in a statement following the IMF review. "
