Deposed Haiti president wants to return home

South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com: "Jean-Bertrand Aristide wants to come back home, and many of his supporters want him to return. Welcoming the deposed president back to Haiti, though, would be a big mistake.

Aristide's South Florida supporters, in particular, must understand that his presence in Haiti would do more harm than good. Instead, they should give President Rene Preval, Aristide's longtime friend and successor, a chance to rebuild the country's political, social and economic infrastructures for the betterment of the Haitian people."

  1. Can anyone give me another example of anyone advocating that a former democratically-elected President, who has never been charged with any crime, be excluded from his home country?

Now the Sun-Sentinal is lecturing Haitians about what is best for them after all the horrible reporting they did in 2004? How utterly paternalistic and disrespectful. I think their editorial board merits a time-out.
