UK MEAT BANNED ... ANTIGUA WARY OF FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE

Antigua Sun: "Antigua and Barbuda has issued an extensive ban on the importation of livestock and meat from the United Kingdom, following an outbreak of foot and mouth disease in that country 10 days ago. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, this move is a response to confirmed cases of the disease in Surrey, England. The disease is highly infectious and mainly affects cloven-hoofed animals, called ruminants. Foot and mouth can be fatal among young animals, causes older ones to blister on their mouths and tongues, reducing milk and meat production. "
