Bird flu 'pandemic' questioned

Cayman Net News: "One of the keynote speakers at Cayman Business Outlook 2008, held on Thursday 17 January at the Ritz-Carlton, has again raised the controversial subject of a possible worldwide bird flu ‘pandemic’.
Defined as an epidemic that spreads through human populations across a large region (for example a continent), or even worldwide, the World Health Organisation (WHO) sets down three pre-requisites for a pandemic: ‘The emergence of a disease new to the population, that the agent infects humans, causing serious illness and that the agent spreads easily and sustainably among humans.’"
