JAIL 'FULL-UP' ... Prison more than 50 per cent over crowded

SUN St.Kitts & Nevis: "Since its construction in 1840, “the prison has outgrown its usefulness,” head of Her Majesty’s Prison, Superintendent Franklyn Dorset told Sun St. Kitts/Nevis in an interview last Friday.
He said the standing population of the prison – initially built to house 60 prisoners – is presently the home of 200 out of the Federation’s 240 prisoners, with the exception of two women detainees.
Dorset said, in addition to its overpopulation, the prison is faced with a number of challenges with which his limited manpower has to contend."
