Allen Stanford, who allegedly ran an $8 billion ponzi scheme, was closely aligned with the opposition party but they lost.

The incumbent United Progressive Party won the general elections by defeating the Antigua Labour Party nine seats to seven in controversial elections that were reportedly riddled with computer glitches and other setbacks."
