Amandala Online: "UDP Belize City Councilor Leila Peyrefitte, in a release to the media today, has announced that her attorneys are suing television company Great Belize Television (Channel 5) for libel on the basis of a story run on News 5 Live on its Thursday, October 22 newscast.
In that story, read by anchor Ava Lovell, reference was made to an audit report that came into Channel 5’s possession, in which over $400,000 was said to be unaccounted for from March 2006 to December 2008, “in huge discounts and write-offs for trade licenses given to choice businesses, in particular, Peyrefitte Brothers (a family-owned business),” according to Five. (Amandala has not seen a copy of that report, which Peyrefitte said numbers 143 pages.)"
