PM wants $$ for Garifuna Land

The Vincentian "Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has indicated that he will be seeking compensation from the British for the lands they took away from the Garifuna and other indigenous people of St. Vincent, after the British took control of the island in 1763.

He noted that slave owners were compensated for the loss of their slaves when slavery was abolished. Yet, until this time, there have been no reparations made on behalf of the African slaves, who worked for centuries without wages on the sugar plantations."
