Trinidad and Tobago's Newsday "PRIME Minister Patrick Manning yesterday strongly hinted at a snap general election, which legally isn’t due until 2012, as he rallied support the PNM special convention at a packed Chaguaramas Convention Centre.
“The time has come for the people to decide, my dear friends,” he said.
Alleging the Opposition was trying to force a snap election by their upcoming no-confidence motion in him, he said the population not the Opposition should decide who governs. Reflecting the crowd’s mood, a woman shouted, “We have confidence in you!”"
