That was the word yesterday from Bjerkhamn's attorney Sir Richard Cheltenham who has accused the Royal Barbados Police Force of misleading the public by portraying his client as a fugitive from justice.
Police last Monday evening issued a warrant of arrest for the 39-year-old businessman, of Leslie Gardens, Maynards, St Peter, after he had earlier left the island on a private jet for Miami.
Yesterday, he was picked up by police in Miami.
Sir Richard said, however, that since last Friday, correspondence had been sent to Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin, with copies to his deputy Bertie Hinds, as well as Director of Public Prosecutions Charles Leacock, outlining the necessity for Bjerkhamn to go overseas for urgent medical treatment."
