Persad-Bissessar, who slew one lion (Basdeo Panday) in January, last night slew another, the Leo-born Patrick Manning, leading the People’s Partnership to an historic and convincing 29/12 victory in the general election.
The coalition forces did not, however, only retain the accustomed Opposition seats and comfortably win the marginal constituencies. Seats located in traditional PNM strongholds, such as Arima, D’abadie/O’Meara and Toco/Sangre Grande just tumbled as they were buried under an avalanche of coalition votes."
