STEER TOWN, St Ann — A bus driver was killed yesterday and 27 students of the University of the West Indies (UWI), whom he was transporting in his vehicle, were injured when it crashed into a truck in this rural Jamaican town.

The driver, Lawton Edwards, 37, of Coronation Road in Mona, St Andrew, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be cut from the wreckage by members of the fire brigade. Edwards was pronounced dead on arrival at the St Ann’s Bay Hospital.
