Image by OEA - OAS via Flickr Caribarena Antigua: "Jamaicans aren’t the only Black Caribbean citizens being mistreated in Barbados. I read many blogs on the internet of other Caribbean nationals who complained that they were treated similarly to the way Jamaican Shanique Myrie, and the three Jamaican young men, allege they were treated. Most of those Caribbean nationals alleging mistreatment at the airport in Barbados said that upon arrival, they were treated brusquely, if not coarsely, by immigration officers, while persons with American and European passports were welcomed with utmost courtesy.
We don’t have to depend only on their stories. Barbados’ Parliamentarian Mia Mottley reportedly said in the Jamaican newspaper, the Observer, 'As Barbadians we can no longer bury our heads in the sand to the perception that others have of us that Barbados does not treat its Caribbean brothers and sisters and people of African descent fairly and with respect.”
