JamaicaObserver.com: "THE University Hospital of Miami, through the Guardianship Programme of Dade County, has launched a desperate search for relatives of Jamaican Henrietta Vance, a critically ill patient at the facility.
Vance has been in a coma and the hospital needs a next of kin to give legal permission for what it calls a Do Not Resuscitate Order, said Abed Johnson, case manager with the Guardianship Programme in Dade, Florida.
A Do Not Resuscitate Order, or DNR, is a legal order written in respect of a patient's wish not to undergo CPR or advanced cardiac life support if their heart or breathing fails. The request is usually made by the patient or health care power of attorney."
