US issues renewed dengue warning

The Nassau Guardian: "The United States Embassy in Nassau issued an emergency e-mail message yesterday warning potential visitors about the outbreak of dengue fever in The Bahamas.
“U.S. citizens should be aware of the recent dengue fever outbreak in The Bahamas,” said an official e-mail from the embassy received by The Nassau Guardian.
“In the past few weeks, over 200 cases have been reported and almost 1,000 cases have been reported of individuals suffering from symptoms that match dengue.”
The embassy also reported in its message that The Bahamas had begun mitigation efforts to control the spread of the disease.
“The Ministry of Health has begun spraying local communities, especially the more densely populated areas, and they have stressed to the public the importance of prevention,” the message continued."
