C News understands that officers responded to the call of a break-in at the Double Savers Supermarket on Calcutta Road in Freeport at around 1:30am.
Police arrived on the scene as three men were fleeing the building.
There was an exchange of gunfire and one suspect was shot. He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival."
