Schools the focus in dengue alert

Aedes aegypti in Dar es Salaam, TanzaniaImage via Wikipedia NationNews - Barbados: "THE mosquito population is flourishing in the searing heat wave and with dengue cases spiralling to almost 100 this year, the Ministry of Health wants to ensure that schools do not become breeding sites.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Joy St John said that dengue fever was very much in the outbreak mode with 98 cases, 18 of which had been hospitalised.
“One of the things that I need people to help us with is to eliminate the breeding sites for the vector. The Minister [of Education] made that call last week and I am making it again,” St John said yesterday while on tour of the QEH.
